FOR THE FIRST TIME: Ultra 85- Logic
Is this Logic's retirement album? Probably not but hey, this is one hell of a way to close the curtains. 8.5/10
Logic. The name brings a lot of mixed reactions. While some considering as a great artist, some frown upon his work. And to be honest, I will never consider myself a good judge of hiphop. Of course, as you may have noticed, much of my work is based on Rock and Pop. But from the first track, this album has me on a trance.
Ultra 85 was announced back in 2017. And with these expectations, one is aware of it being nothing but a magnum opus. An artist throwing his might into this one record. Of course, it can also backfire. But Ultra 85, for all the changes it has undergone through all these years, is a must listen record.
This is a record that answers all the nay sayers of the artist, with each tracking polished and refined. The production on this one is fine as fuck. The album opens with the legendary skater P Rod, followed by a summery beat sample with Logic gliding through the very beats. This is a common theme throughout the record. The record is a concept album, with a book that comes with it. Something, that Logic has experimented with the 2017’s Superman, a record which honestly is terrible. Ultra 85 is definitely not that. It is almost seamless, the tracks reveal that. They blend with the plotlines, the skits don’t feel like an interruption. Many of them still feel on point and work really well.
Of course the production is the highlight, whether you care or care less about Logic's lyricism.
