NEWMUSIKATTAK: Who Let The Dogs Out by Lambrini Girls.
The face of punk in 2025 is more brash, raw and uncensored. That is the Lambrini Girls. From Brighton, the duo featuring Phoebe Lunney and Lily Maciera Bosgelmez, have a massive amount of Spotify monthly listeners and have got their name outside.
Now, the UK has always embraced new alternative artists from the likes of Wet Leg and The Last Dinner Party. And despite the criticisms that these are posh ladies from the middle class who have the luxuries of direct contact with the Labels and copious promotion (I mean all of your faves have rich daddies and mommies), the album literally has a song about Nepo Babies. The band also reminds you of the Amyl and the Sniffers (whose last album Cartoonish Darkness was one of my favorite albums last year)
While the rave rapturous praise for the album, (NME called it better than The Downward Spiral, yeah lol) , it is still a fun record to listen to. It is a cornucopia about issues like dirty men, nepotism, capitalism, false scarcity and many more issues.
The lyrics aren't really a standpoint for this record. In certain places, it feels as if it is saying something profound and it is sandwiched by something almost obnoxious in tone. But that in my opinion, is how much of Old Punk is. They had themes but they were brash, unapologetic and uncensored. And that's where the fun lies in it.
Well the tracks I like? The very closeted No Homo, and Scarcity is Fake, Filthy Rich Nepo Baby. The single off the track Cuntology 101, is also fun to listen provided, also do check out Nothing Tastes as Good As It was
