The Normie Crowd Newsletter #1
May 3rd 2025
To my subscribers
I started the Normie Crowd as an extension to my dead Instagram handle mannatalksmoosic. Now, it has a lot of terrible takes. I did not like Sour when it come out (I would go on to love Olivia Rodrigo’s works since). Honestly, I wonder why I quit the format, because it was a very neat format. Should I revive it? Maybe, I loved the idea of trying to finish a review in a few words.
Normie Crowd has existed since June 2022. I had an idea, in a lost Wordpress website. It was something initially, but I was just a student in PCMB. I never enjoyed the course and it would bite me in the back. Then, tragedy struck and I was forced to leave school. Nevertheless, during the therapy sessions, I came across a pretty cool girl. She liked The Cure. And I think I had an obsession with her I guess. Well, I showed her my site. She liked it. And for the first time, I felt validated in a long time.
But, if I had to thank someone, it would be Sal. Sal was a friend who I met during this time, and she made me love journalism and writing. It still is a dream of mine to study journalism. I still dream of having a job in a big city as an editor for a magazine like Rolling Stones or something of that sorts. But journalism, for a middle class dude, like me is a bit of a risk.
Nevertheless, Normie Crowd has always existed. The Yellow Submarine that I designed on a pixel art, it represents some of the hope I have had.
Now, I believe my life and my goals have been very erratic. Being me, something that I don’t like is how quite inconsistent, how I struggle promoting it. Most of my subscribers are friends or people I met off Hinge. Yes, that is true.
Nevertheless, as an author of this page, I would love to know what you feel about this page. What are some suggestions and what are the stuff you want to see as a reader.
Also, I haven’t been updating the site due to personal and academic obligations.
Thanking you.
